Coaches Corners
Lydell surprised me with his play this season. I knew he was a special player, but I just didn't know when it will come out of him. He is a great ball handler and has the rare ability to create shots for himself; he seems to have a knack for drawing foul on his forays to the basket. Lydell is a soft spoken kid that only wants to win. He is best known for his unselfish play. He passes well and looks to get others involved first. Teammates love to see him on the floor, as so often he makes others better. He can use both hands in traffic with the ability to pull up off the dribble and knock down the short jumper. He is a true coach’s kid. He is a very smart ball player, with a high basketball I.Q. Extremely coachable, hard working and is always willing to go the extra mile for his team. Lydell is a two star athlete. When he's not playing ball his time is spent as a starting full back for his football team. Lydell has a rare skill at his age. He can play many positions, and as his coach, I won't hesitate to put him in the paint where he has an array of post moves. Defensively, He is known to avarge 4 steals a game due to his long arms. Lydell can play in an up-tempo game or in a half court set. He is truly a great kid and a scholar athlete. I know the best is yet to come.

 Weakness

Lydell has great drive, but at times, plays passive. He needs to develop a killer instinct. His ball handling needs to continue to develop. He shoots 30% from the line. Lydell needs to get a better mid-range game.
